The reference article deals with an experience report from a student of the 5th period of the psychology course at UNIVERSO-BH While studyng Mental Health. The main objective of the article is to relate the student’s experience of visiting the museum of Madness, which represents the painful history lived by the patients, in one os the biggest Psychiatric  Hospital of Brasil.

The interest of the student about visiting the museum has started on the 1st period of the course, when she felt necessity to increase knowledge in relation to mental disorders and different forms of treatment.

The theoretical contribution was anchored in the contents of the Mental Health discipline, watching a theater play called: “Nos Porões da Loucura” and in reading the book: “ Holocausto Brasileiro” by Daniela Arbex.

The experience during the visit to the Museum of Madness, during the theater play and the reading of the book offered a student several reflections about learning to hear the other’s suffering, and solidarity, which are fundamental values of the psychologist in the exercise of his profession.
